So, for those who don't know, in addition to being a photographer, I'm also a classical singer and this summer I've been singing at a choral symposium in Aix-En-Provence. As you might imagine, it's been pretty amazing and this shoot stands out as an idyllic highlight among an already fairly idyllic few weeks. The artists showing work were Michele Henot, O'Neill Cushman, Mary Hamilton, Jamin Yie, and Charles Umbarger (brother of my fellow singer and the reason I was at the event) - all of them affiliated with the Marchutz School of Fine Arts. The showing was at a beautiful home right across the street from Cézanne's famous Chateau Noir in the shadow of Mont Saite-Victoire. In addition to the visual art, there was also a poetry reading by Sarah Stickney, another alum of the school, and music playing by some of my choral pals. All-in-all, it was another aggressively pleasant evening in the south of France.
